The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia

In summer 2012, Danielle was an Research Experience for Undergraduate (REU) intern at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia in the Center for Injury Research and Prevention. She worked on a psychology-based study evaluating the proper use of car seats. Danielle gained experience with many components of the research project including survey design, participant recruitment, data management and data collection. In addition to the research project, Danielle participated in lectures on injury prevention and toured the University of Pennsylvania's haptic laboratory and Rowan University's Injury Biomechanics Laboratory. She especially enjoyed the interdisciplinary nature of CIRP because it brought together individuals with differing research backgrounds to solve complex problems.

Danielle received first place at the end of summer research competition. She received $1,000 to fund presentation of her project at the 2013 Lifesavers National Conference on Highway Safety Priorities.
